Animals removed. Entry points closed. But you're not done yet!

Are you really done yet? Ok, you’ve removed the animals from the attic and closed all the entry points, but there is still a very real and present health threat even though the animals are gone. Wildlife in your attic can create problems many homeowners never think of. Wild animals carry a variety of parasites by virtue of the fact that they live outside. These parasites primarily consist of two major categories, endoparasites which live inside the animal and can typically be left behind in their urine and feces, and ectoparasites, which live outside the animal on their skin, fur, or feathers. After the wildlife host is evicted, these various tiny parasites begin looking for a new host. That search could bring them into your living quarters with you and your family becoming the new hosts.

Bat bugs, fowl mites, ticks and fleas are just some of the ectoparasites you need to be concerned about. Your pets’ health, as well, can be threatened by those ectoparasites and various endoparasites such as worms. Raccoons, for example, are known for using a single spot in your home as a latrine, while using another part as their living area. This can lead to matted attic insulation and reduced “R” values, which means you lose money trying to heat and cool your home, as well as stained ceilings and unwanted odors and those nasty parasites. It is not recommended that you try to clean it yourself because once inhaled, the airborne, infested dust can cause severe illness or even death. Your attic should be professionally treated for parasites by our properly trained and equipped technicians, once they’ve removed your problem species.

The wildlife technicians at Critter Control are prepared to treat your attic for parasites with the use of fumigants, dessicants and insulation replacement. A desiccantis a substance that induces or sustains a state of dryness (desiccation). Desiccants or desiccant insecticides have the ability to dry out bugs and kill them. Our technicians will use desiccant materials that are especially formulated to safely kill targeted pests in homes and other buildings. Our technicians can also re-insulate your attic with insulation product that is permanently treated with a dessicant. Fumigation is a method that fills an area with gaseous pesticidesor fumigants to suffocate or poison the pests within. Once human beings have vacated the structure, the fumigant is released into the space to percolate for a set period of time, killing the infestation, and is then removed from the space, rendering it safe for humans to re-enter. Ask for our Eco-Wise brand of botanical pest control products and feel confident about the products being used under your roof.

We can prepare insurance bids with most major insurance companies, if needed, to help restore your attic to a condition that is safe for your family’s health once again. From animal removal, to entry exclusion repair, attic cleanout, parasite treatment, insulation replacement, attic fan vent guards, roof vent guards, gable vent closures and soffit vent repairs, our trained wildlife technicians at Critter Control of Delaware Valley can do it all for you.
